Personality Plus By Florence Littauer Posted on January 29, 2009 12:00 AM MST by Tiffany Kinerson
Do you find yourself doing, doing, doing until you feel guilty any time you sit down for a so-called break? Or do you relish in the breaks and sneakily hope no one will rouse you from your nap to prod you into busy, busy, busy-ness? If any of the above sounds like you, you've got an explanation for it in Florence Littauer's Personality Plus. In it, Littauer discusses the four main personalities: powerful choleric (strong leader), popular sanguine (comic relief), perfect melancholy (introspective organizer), and peaceful phlegmatic (restful listener). Each set of qualities is different, each is powerful in its own way, and each one is a piece to God's puzzle of humanity created to make the world work. Originally I read this book to deepen my fictional characters. But along the way to understanding my creations, I found myself appreciating God's creation. I see now that I'm not just a moron who struggles to remember where I parked my car at the mall. And I recognize that I should take my son seriously when he comes home in tears because he couldn't get it right when he had to jump rope in PE. These are both indicators of our personalities, our weaknesses and strengths that mesh together into a valid use of God’s power. And my son and I both need validation in order to grow into who we need to be. This book is a great tool to help you raise your family to be who God created you to be, too. It enlightens the strengths and encourages the weak areas of all the personalities. It offers hope for disagreements and peace for relationship futures. I recommend Personality Plus to anyone who seeks to understand themselves and other people better. |

Are you the type of person who loses your car keys, notes, and even misplaces self-organization manuals? Or are you the one who has each of these neatly categorized in labeled spots, file folders and alphabetical bookshelves?
