The Testimony of Gratefulness Posted on January 16, 2009 12:00 AM MST by Tiffany Kinerson“...One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” –John 9:25 At the beginning of the Christmas break, my son had fifth’s disease. Have you heard of it? Apparently, it’s similar to Chicken pox in that you get it once in your lifetime and you feel pretty terrible while you endure it. Two days before our house was filled with nearly thirty family members for the holiday weekend, fifth’s disease gloriously disappeared. And just in time for me to scour every doorknob, stair rail and light switch with an antiseptic wipe down. Biohazard—zero, Momma—one. Then, two days after my massive family left from our very fun visit, I was riding in the car and got zotted with the gripping pain of strep throat. New Year’s Eve I spent recuperating in my bed. My husband had the next day off to take care of the family, and wouldn’t you know it, the mass of people who had been under my care the past weekend still report they were unscathed. Biohazard—still zero, Momma—two. Praise God. How many great opportunities do we receive to praise God in our daily testimonies? If I look back at my Christmas vacation story, I could see sickness, worry and stress. I could be concerned with the what-ifs and declare I don’t want to talk about those weeks ever again. But instead, by seeing the inherent praises in the situation: no one else got either of the two odd sicknesses of my house, no one missed school or work since we were already on break, and we were all perfectly healthy when it mattered most as far as hosting the family goes. Man, if a person has to get sick, the timing could not have been more perfect. Thank you, God, for healing us. Thank you, God, for protecting us and everyone around us. Thank you, God, for giving me one more testimony of Your power and love in difficult situations. May I learn to tell more and more people these amazing every day stories so that the word of Your goodness and love can replicate, show more people who You are, and therefore allow my life to be an act of worship. |
