O Christmas Tree (The Mommy Version)

Posted on December 17, 2009 12:00 AM MST by Sara Richardson

This song was inspired by real-life events. I used to care how our tree looked, but now I have learned to embrace the eccentricity of it. Here is my tribute to the most imperfect Christmas tree there ever was...

Verse 1:
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
What happened to your branches?
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree
What happened to your branches?
In beauty we did decorate you
But then the babies wanted to,
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
What happened to your branches?

Verse 2:
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
You are the tree most battered!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
You are the tree most battered!
The kids stripped your ornament gown
Then you came crashing down!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
You are the tree most battered!

Verse 3:
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
Your downfall will teach me!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
Your downfall will teach me!
No longer will I buy ornaments of glass!
Our tree will always be second class!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your downfall will teach me!

Notice how the bottom half of the tree is so bare? Every time I find an ornament on the floor, I put it higher. We have an eclectic mix! Here's the first Ornament AJ ever made.

And here's AJ's "friend" Mater.

This one's for my wonderful hubby! (Go Huskers!)

This is a compilation of Kaleb and AJ's creativity. Notice how the cow, who is supposed to be jumping over the moon, is actually riding in the canoe.

What are your favorite ornaments?
